About SYT >> Guru Parampara
Satyam Yoga Trust established by Sannyasi Krishna Yogam, draws inspiration from the Guru Parampara, the current Satyananda Yoga™ lineage - Swami Sivananda Saraswati, Swami Satyananda Saraswati and Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati. The Satyananda Yoga™ follows the Dashnami Sannyasa Tradition established by Adi Shankaracharya.
Swami Sivananda Saraswati
Swami Sivananda Saraswati, who was born at Pattamadai (Tamil Nadu) in 1887, is our moola guru. After serving as a medical doctor in Malaya, he renounced his practice and settled in the sacred valley of Rishikesh and was initiated into the Dashnami Sannyasa tradition in 1924. He made the hitherto unavailable techniques of Yoga accessible to the common man at every nook and corner of India and abroad. He established many organizations to spread the culture of yoga. He authored more than 300 books on Yoga. He attained Maha Samadhi in 1963.
Swami Satyananda Saraswati
Paramahamsa Swami Satyananda Saraswati was born in Almorah in 1923. He joined his Guru, Swami Sivananda Saraswati, in Rishikesh (UP), and adopted the Dashnami Sannyasa life in 1943. He served his Guru's mission for 12 years in many capacities. He established the Bihar School of Yoga and other organizations for fulfilling the mission, “Spread Yoga from Door to Door, Shore to Shore”. An exponent in Tantra, he authored over 80 books. He attained Maha Samadhi at mid-night on 5th December, 2009.
Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati
Paramahamsa Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati was born in Rajnandgaon (MP) in 1960. He traveled overseas at the age of 10, establishing Ashrams and Yoga Centres in Europe, America and other countries. Initiated as a Paramahamsa Sannyasin at the age of thirty, he was anointed Preceptor in succession to Swami Satyananda Saraswati by the leading luminaries of the Sannyasa tradition in 1993. He established Bihar Yoga Bharati, the only University in the world for yogic studies.
Swami Satyasangananda Saraswati
Swami Satyasangananda Saraswati (Satsangi) was born in 1953, in Chandornagore, West Bengal. From the age of 22, she experienced a series of inner awakenings which led her to her guru, Swami Satyananda. From 1981, she traveled ceaselessly with her guru in India and overseas and developed into a scholar with deep insight into the yogic and tantric traditions as well as modern sciences and philosophies. She is an efficient channel for the transmission of her guru's teachings. The establishment of the Sivananda Math in Rikhia is her creation and mission, and she guides all its activities there, working tirelessly to uplift the weak and underprivileged. She embodies compassion with clear reason and is the foundation of her guru's vision.
